Damaging your device can be stressful especially when it’s your luxurious iPhone because it becomes challenging to buy a brand new cell phone that can cost you everything on each purchase.
Today, many people are still using iPhone 5 and iPhone 6 and many of us also preferred to buy refurbished iPhone 7 and 8 versions. They have used these devices for a few years and become comfortable with them. If you plan to continue holding on to these devices, here are things you should do to keep them usable:
It’s often advised that you need to get the latest software version for your device. Software updates may give you loads of new features, but they can also slow down your new phone. The old hardware configuration in your phone may not be powerful enough for a set of new capabilities. Some have even accused Apple of deliberately slowing old phone models down. Regardless of the truth, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
Batteries degrade after a period of constant use. They don’t store as much charge as they used to. Buying a new battery is obviously much cheaper than buying a brand new iPhone 8, 8 Plus or X.
Apps get constant updates and they tend to become bigger than when you first installed them. If you no longer need those increasingly bloated apps, it’s better to remove them. Many apps run in the background, using up processor utilization and memory. When you uninstall an app, not only that you regain some space, you may also free up some processing resources. If you uninstall more than a few unneeded apps, you may get a noticeable improvement in performance. Removing apps is easy to do. Go to Settings> General> iPhone Storage. Another way to free up storage space is by disabling location services for an app that shouldn’t get GPS access. As an example, consider whether it’s really necessary to geotag your tweet and Facebook updates. By disabling GPS access for many apps, you may improve battery life. Check the phone’s user manual to know how to disable GPS feature based on apps.
iOS animation can also help to improve performance. Newer apps may require slightly more processor and memory resources. By disabling Parallax, you may notice some performance boost. Go to General Settings> Accessibility Panel> Reduce Motion.
As a multitasking device, iPhone doesn’t automatically close an open app when you go to the main screen and open another app. It means that five or six apps can run simultaneously in the background. If you want to free up hardware resources and allow new apps to run faster, you need to disable the Background App Refresh option. It means the only app that refreshes itself is the one you are using. If you have an old iPhone model and it starts to perform slowly when running apps with higher hardware requirements, this trick should worth a try.
Many iPhone users keep a massive amount of text messages and they take up a lot of space. You can set the phone to automatically texts after 30 days.
After trying all the above methods and your iPhone just can’t get any faster, then it’s a good idea to restore your device to the original factory settings. The device will feel like a blank canvas once again. All apps and data will be erased, so make sure to back up them first.
Very careful smartphone users can also spoil their phone which may cost them money. Even a severe damage can make you buy a new cell phone and trouble comes when you don’t wish to spend your money on any other brand rather than Apple.
So buy refurbished iPhone instead because a deal on refurbished iPhones can’t be beaten! Refurbished phone models are usually unused and still under the original warranty. They are rebuilt with new add-on on the terms of model, structure, functions and more. It can be a floor model or demonstration model that was under testes and now would be sold as a refurbished model though it was never used. Good bargains can be achieved for these models if you are a discount buyer.
